Cal-ICMA President 2024-2025 Farewell Message

Hazel L. Wetherford, Cal-ICMA President 2024-205

Dear Cal-ICMA members,

As my last message to you as the Cal-ICMA President, I genuinely appreciate your unwavering support for our profession and this organization. It has been my honor to serve as the 2024 Cal-ICMA President.

Our program year was filled with many accomplishments. A few highlights include: hosting five extremely successful networking dinners that were sold out; an enhanced scholarship program that now includes a scholarship specifically for members who are a US Military Veteran; awarded three scholarships for the ICMA Local Government Reimagined Conference and four scholarships for the ICMA Annual Conference (read the scholarship recipient testimonials here); and our enhanced talent initiative program.

Reflecting on these accomplishments over the last year, I would like to thank the Cal-ICMA Board for their diligent work towards the work plan established last year, taking the organization to the next level through our annual networking events, programs, and initiatives -- and we couldn’t have done it without our 2024 Corporate Partners and our support team at ICMA! Thank you Hamlet, Madison AI, Schneider Electric, CitiBot, Climatec, CLOUDVICE, CSG Consultants, FlashVote, Tripepi Smith, and Zencity for your partnership with Cal-ICMA in 2024 and the local government profession.

Looking ahead, the Board of Directors will be holding its annual strategic planning retreat at the beginning of February to set the work plan and goals for the next year. Our President-Elect, Peter Pirnejad (City Manager, Town of Los Altos Hills), will start his Presidential year at the Board Meeting on Wednesday, February 5 at 11:30 AM in the Oasis room at The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa. We look forward to welcoming our new Board Members and a new President-Elect.

If you will be attending the City Managers Conference (or in the desert region) on Wednesday, February 5, we invite you to attend the Annual Networking Dinner. Tickets can be secured HERE. If you will be attending the Local Government Reimagined Conference in Denver, Colorado, we invite you to attend the West Coast Networking Mixer on Wednesday, February 26. More information coming soon. These are great events to reconnect with colleagues and friends, build new connections, and meet our 2025 Corporate Partners: CLOUDVICE, OnStrategy (MadisonAI), Schneider Electric, Transtech, Gravity - IGM Technology, Polimorphic, Tripepi Smith, Zencity, AlphaX RE Capital, CitiBot, CSG Consultants, Eaton & Associates, FlashVote, HdL, MRG, RPMG, and With.

Once again, thank you to our Corporate Partners and your continued support of our local government profession. Thank you for being an essential part of our journey and I look forward to another amazing year!
