The Manager’s Role in Community Leadership

A national conversation has been taking place among city and county managers to help define the manager’s role in leading discussions on important community problems. Has this role changed over time? How much should a manager be in front encouraging discussion and solutions? Is the ICMA Declaration of Ideals in need of revision to help guide managers in this evolving area of responsibility? Join us for a facilitated session to discuss and help frame these issues for CA managers in the context of the larger national conversation. Input from CA managers will be offered for consideration at a scheduled session at the ICMA Annual Conference in Pittsburgh.
